Common Questions
Smart Electrics are located in Oakley, Basingstoke, Hampshire. We primarily cover the Basingstoke and Hampshire area but will happily consider requests from customers in locations such as Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Sussex. If you’re unsure if we’ll come to you please don’t hesitate to contact us to check.
The following map outlines where we provide our electrical, telecoms and CCTV/security services, with some of the key towns marked for general information only.
Yes – please feel to contact us for a free estimate.
Smart Electrics accept all major credit and debit cards and PayPal. We can also accommodate Google Pay, Android Pay and Apple Pay. We can take payment at your home, over the phone and via BACS. Our invoice will show our banking details. If a payment method isn’t listed or shown please feel free to ask us.
Our normal business hours are 9:00am – 5:30pm on Monday to Friday. Work on Saturdays, Sundays and evenings can be arranged upon request.
We also offer a 24/7 call-out service for emergencies. Public holidays and urgent call outs are dealt with as an emergency response.
This will depend on a number of varying factors such as:
- How urgently you require our services
- The materials that may be needed to complete your job
- The technical requirements of your job
We will always give you an estimate of costs involved, and allow a cooling off period unless it’s an emergency. In an emergency it’s all about getting you back up and running safely and as cost-effectively as possible.

Absolutely! We tailor alarm and CCTV systems to suit your home or business needs. As you would expect from a professional installer, we have security solutions which enable you to check in on your home or business, regardless of where you are and can also automate security alerts to your mobile device(s).
Yes, Smart Electrics founder Alastair Toal is a qualified HV SAP (High Voltage Senior Authorised Person) and has studied under the AP15 course title.

Yes we certainly can, with knowledge of many manufacturers and system types we are able to take over maintenance of equipment no matter who the installer was.

At Smart Electrics we are following guidance from Public Health England, the World Health Organisation and trade associations. Our vehicles, tools and clothing are cleaned regularly to reduce the potential of spreading pathogens amongst the population. Our procedures are assessed on a daily basis to make sure we are compliant and safe. If required, we will implement changes immediately upon the guidance of experts – this flexibility enables us to operate as safely as possible.
